“The extraordinary mystique of hers made you think she lived on rose petals and listened to nothing but Mozart, but it wasn’t true. She was quite funny and ribald. She could tell a dirty joke. She played charades with a great sense of fun and vulgarity, and she could be quite bitchy.”
― André Previn
penique productions is an international collective of artists with various creative backgrounds that collaborate to create temporary structures.each project is characterized by volumes of color that completely occupy spaces erected by others, giving them a new identity – one of the most recent set up in sao paolo at the MIS (museum of image and sound). the artists spread giant plastic sheets across the interiors of ornate buildings, taping the sheets to the floors and walls, then turn on high-powered fans to blow the sheets outward. this intervention acts as a simplification of the space that unifies the shapes and textures, manufacturing a new and unique atmosphere.
the balloons are made from regular patterns and adjusted to the specific characteristics of each location, squeezing vibrant swells of color into the tight spaces. the concept aims to build a relationship between fullness and emptiness, triggering a dialogue with the space it briefly inhabits.
